Description
Description   These are court ordered inpatient services provided in a maximum security setting of Whiting Forensic Hospital. Services provide intensive medically and behaviorally directed treatment, and forensic evaluation for individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders, for individuals found not competent to stand trial or not guilty by reason of insanity under the jurisdiction of the Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB), who are at substantially heightened risk for physical aggression toward others which cannot be managed in a less restrictive environment. This service is also provided to individuals transferred from the Department of Corrections who need a higher level of psychiatric treatment than can be provided in that setting. Services manage their illness with the goal of transitioning them to an inpatient rehabilitation service or to a less restrictive level of care, under the auspices of the PSRB or other court entity.
